David J. Raleigh, age 86, of Prentice, WI, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024, with his
family by his side. David was born in Brantwood, WI, on September 20, 1938, to the late Arthur
and Frances (Schoenfuss) Raleigh.
David joined the U.S. Army at the age of 18 and served in Korea. After his discharge, he
continued to serve his community as a dedicated member of the Prentice VFW Post 8491 for 65
years where he held the position of Post Commander and chaired various committees.
Additionally, David helped build St. John’s Catholic Church and served on many committees. He
was a proud owner of his Mack truck and spent his years hauling pulpwood and working in the
logging industry. David had a range of hobbies including deer hunting, fishing, camping,
softball, and traveling. He enjoyed his mixed couples bowling league and the Bushbenders
Snowmobile Club. David coached Little League for several years, volunteered as a 4-H Leader
for over 15 years chaperoning numerous trips, and supported Prentice High School sports.
David was a devoted husband to his wife of 60 years, Rosemary Raleigh; a loving father to his
daughters, Nancy (Jim) Otto, of Rhinelander, WI, and Jane (Kevin) Odberg, of Midlothian, VA, and his son, Neil (Karla) Raleigh, of Merrill, WI. He is further survived by his brother, Arthur; his
sister, Mary Ann; and his five grandchildren, Danielle, Michaela, Brant, Kaden, and Madelyn in
addition to his great-grandchildren and special nieces and nephews. David was preceded in
death by his parents, Arthur and Frances; and his brothers, Ronald, Robert, Richard, Patrick,
James, and Daniel.
David will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, community, and
country. His kindness, generosity, and dedication will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at St.
John’s Catholic Church in Prentice, WI. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service
at 11:00 AM. Friends and family are welcome to gather to celebrate David’s life and share their
