PARK FALLS, Wis (WCQM/WPFP) – Construction on the planned Old Abe Memorial Park in downtown Park Falls began on June third and has been continuing on schedule, despite the continued wet weather. We attended the June 20 meeting of the Park Falls Area Community Development Corporation (PFACDC) where their administrative assistant Shannon Greenwood provided updates and details about the project and planned features of the upcoming park. Greenwood stated construction began with “…the installation of erosion control items,” overseen by Janke, the contracting company in charge of construction. Greenwood went on to state “We have weekly construction meetings with the city, MSA, and the contractor here at city hall. They are on track right now and construction is expected to be complete by the fall of 2024.” Greenwood also listed the planned features of the park including a new stage, bathroom pavilion, and a new playground.
