The Butternut girls traveled to South Shore on Thursday to take on the 2nd place Cardinals.  The Midgets have been playing well as of late, and they looked to continue that trend.

Kendra Pritzl got things going, opening the game with a three from the top of the key as the Midgets jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead.  South Shore responded to work things back to even.  The teams exchanged leads through out the half with Butternut leading 20-19 at the break.  The second half was much of the same until the Midgets went on a little run to push the lead to 8.  Lizzie Pritzl and Isabelle Przybylski each went 2-2 from the line in the closing minutes to seal the 43-37 win.

Gianna Nahring had a big night leading all scorers with 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.  Caitlynn Bebeau probably had her best defensive effort of the year getting 4 blocks, 8 rebounds and 9 points.  Kendra Pritzl with 8 points and 8 rebounds.  Przybylski finished with 6 points.

Sophia Truchon led the Cardinals with 15 points.

“We played really great defense tonight, and controlled the ball on offense.  This is a big win for us, this young team is really growing up.  It’s been a long time since we’ve won up there” commented Butternut Coach Tory Scherwinski

South Shore falls to (10-4, 13-6).  Butternut improves to (9-6, 12-9)  They will host Washburn for another big game on Monday at 6:30 for parent’s night.
