Sharon Kay Scherwinski, 80

Sharon Kay Scherwinski, age 80, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, at Waterford Assisted Living under hospice care in Park Falls, Wisconsin after a courageous 16-year battle with Multiple Myeloma.

She was born on July 9, 1945, in Park Falls, WI to the late Bernard and Betty Butts.  Sharon worked many years at Phillips Plastics in Phillips Wisconsin where she retired as the Payroll Coordinator.

Sharon’s greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  She also enjoyed knitting and binge-watching movies.  Scary movies were her favorite.  She also took trips to see Las Vegas, fish in Canada, and a cruise to the Bahamas.  Playing bingo was an added favorite of hers while she was staying at The Waterford Assisted Living facility.

She is survived by 4 children.  Richard Scherwinski of Fifield WI, Steven (Teresa) Scherwinski of Butternut WI, Tracy (Jeff) Peterson of Park Falls WI, and Scott (Kathy) Scherwinski of Star Prairie WI; 5 grandchildren.  Michael Scherwinski, Alison Hinton, Spencer Peterson, Sophia Scherwinski, and Zyanya Cox along with 8 great grandchildren. 3 brothers and 1 sister.  Danny Butts of Park Falls WI, Bill Butts of Rexburg ID, David (Teresa) Butts of Berlin WI, Beverly (Joseph) Meddaugh of Bancroft WI; She is also survived by nieces, nephews and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her former husband Richard Dean Scherwinski.

The family would like to thank the hospice nurses for their continued care over the past month as well as the staff at The Waterford Assisted Living facility for the care and compassion that they provided over the past 15 months.

At Sharon’s request there will be a private family service at a later date.
