Douglas R. Mueller passed away at his Park Falls home on April 25th at the age of 81. He was born in
Milwaukee on February 19, 1944, the son of Raymond and Dorothy (Gates) Mueller. He
graduated from Custer High School and MATC and served his country for six years in the Army.
For 25 years he worked as a systems analyst for Waukesha Engine. Doug married Janis
Schendel on October 8, 1966. On their retirement, he and Janis moved to Butternut Lake, and
as well as enjoying life on the lake, they bought an RV and traveled throughout the US and
Canada building many wonderful memories. He was a member of the Butternut/Schnurs Lake
Association for 20 years, and served as an elder at Peace Lutheran Church. Doug was an avid
fisherman, hunter, and woodworker, a wonderful Dad and friend.
He is survived by his wife Janis, and two sons: Dale (Sharon) of Minnetrista, MN and Matthew
(Liz) of Muskego, WI, four grandsons: Emmett, Westley, Kellen and Finn, and his faithful dog
Toby. He’s further survived by his sister Nancy Swider of Port St. Joe, FL, and two nieces: Lynn
(Rick) Dolata and Kirsten (Chris) Mikulski and their families.
Memorial service will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday May 3, 2025, at Peace Lutheran Church
in Park Falls, WI with Pastor Samuel Morsching officiating. Interment will be at Pinelawn
Cemetery in Milwaukee at a later date.
Military Honors under the auspices of the Park Falls American Legion Post 182 will follow.
A visitation will be held at the church from 11:00am until the hour of the service.
