Kenneth “Kenny” Simpson, age 78, a resident of Phillips, WI, passed away March 26, 2025, at
Park Manor Nursing Home. He was born April 26, 1946, in Phillips, WI, to parents Edwin and
Francess Simpson. He graduated from Phillips High School and attended Rice Lake Technical
College. He married Judy McGinnis in the spring of 1969. They had 3 wonderful children
together. In July of 1999 he married Susanne Knaack and gained a step-son Mitchell Curtis.
Kenny worked as a Mechanical Draftsman for many years as the company transitioned through
different owners. He started working while it was Omark, then Blount, and he retired from
Caterpiller, Inc. He was a member of the NRA and Ducks Unlimited. In his later years he
enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his younger years he was an avid sports enthusiast. He was
active in bowling leagues, playing basketball, and loved to play softball. He will be remembered
for being a die-hard Packers and Brewers fan.
Kenny will be remembered as a man who could befriend anyone. His genuine, selfless, caring
attitude, and his infectious smile could brighten anyone’s day.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Annette Nowicki; brother: Edwin “Pat”;
step-daughter in law: Tracy Curtis; best friend: Dale Meives. He is survived by his wife Susanne;
children: Kevin, Keith, Kimberlee (Jason) Nuernberger, Mitchell Curtis; grandchildren: Kyle
(Logan Rindt) Nicks, Kasee Nicks, Cayden (Cameron) Wenzel, Max (Ciara) Curtis, Georgia
(Ben) Curtis, Sophia Curtis; great grandchildren: Grayson, Quinn, Ellowyn; siblings: Sharon
Simpson Lee (Brenda) Simpson; many nieces, nephews; special cousin: Diane Gierman; best
friends: Bill Leonard, Bill Knaack; and many other friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home, at
1:00 pm. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
