Madison, Wis–Civic Media has received approval from the
Federal Communications Commission to acquire radio station
WHSM, 101.1 FM in Hayward. The growing Wisconsin media
company has brought back the popular nickname “Musky 101”
and has returned to a country music format, with local
information, human voices, and local personality.
Civic Media CEO Sage Weil said, “We are thrilled to be
expanding our presence in Hayward by bringing a music format
to the community. We look forward to building relationships
with local listeners and businesses and to make this a vibrant
local radio station that helps listeners stay in touch with the
local area.”
Musky 101 is Civic Media’s second station in Hayward, after WBZH, 96.9 FM and 910 AM,
which airs a Wisconsin-focused pro-democracy news and talk radio format. Both stations
feature local, regional, and state news to keep listeners informed.
Civic Media has also finalized an agreement with the Milwaukee Brewers to bring baseball to
Sawyer County on WBZH 910 AM and 96.9 FM. WBZH will broadcast all spring training and
regular season games.
