Christopher James Ferkovich, age 60, of Park Falls passed peacefully at Marshfield Medical Center in Park Falls, surrounded by family on Sunday, December 29, 2024.  He was born on April 30, 1964 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, the son of James (Jim) and Janalee (Wollerman) Ferkovich.  He began school in LaCrosse and -after moving with his family- graduated from Park Falls High School.  Chris went on to obtain his certificate of sales from NTC in Wausau. He returned to Park Falls and worked for several local companies including  IAP, Marquip, and Steuber Beverage, before finding his real joy as the “Juke Box Hero,” DJ-ing events and parties for many years before retiring. He joined his family as a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Chris made friends everywhere he went, and built lifelong relationships easily. The only thing bigger than his personality was his heart, and maybe his laugh. He generously shared all of those as an active member of the community, bringing the Christmas Magic to local events as Santa Claus, fundraising, and volunteering with the Jaycees. Chris was an avid collector, and deeply enjoyed hunting garage sales for the next treasure to add to his NASCAR, shot glass, or movie collection.  He was a devoted Packer and Brewer fan who could always be counted on to share the game schedule and be sporting team colors. When Chris wasn’t playing games with his family, or entertaining them with his jokes and stories, he could be found creating jewelry, making homemade birthday and holiday cards, or coloring pictures to give to those he loved.

He is survived by his sister Heidi (Bruce) Peterson of Park Falls, by nieces and nephews; Casey (Mark) Roeder of Milwaukee, Savannah (Patrick) Canik of Park Falls, Noah Peterson of Milwaukee, Aaron and Katerina Ferkovich of Green Bay, his sister-in-law Stacy Ferkovich of Green Bay, and by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Jay Ferkovich.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2024 from 9:30am till 11:30am at Birch Street Funeral Service Chapel in Park Falls. Chris was known for sharing his jokes and anecdotes with everyone he met, and his family warmly invites those with memories to join in sharing those stories at 11:00 am.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Christopher’s care team, especially Dr. Kasirye, Jamie Baratka, Courtney Mallak, and Andrea Carbon. Your care and dedication is greatly appreciated.

Birch Street Funeral Service is assisting the family.
