Assumption Wins Close Contest over Screamin’ Eagles

The Chequamegon Boys Basketball team travelled to Wisconsin Rapids on Friday night to take on the Assumption Royals.
Assumption dominated the 1st half, jumping out to a 42-27 halftime lead.
The Screamin’ Eagles cam storming back in the 2nd half, cutting the lead to 4 points. The Eagles were unable to get any closer, and Assumption was able to hold on for a 76-66 victory.
Chequamegon Coach Thomas Tollakson said after the game “I am really proud of our guys and how they never gave up and had the mindset to keep working hard and playing together as a team”
Cooper Michalski led Chequamegon with 25 points, followed by Marcus Purdy with 18, Jarrett Heckendorf with 13 and Antonio Poetzl with 12.
