The Chequamegon boys basketball team travelled to Spencer for the season opener on Tuesday.
Spencer held off the Screamin’ Eagles for a 65-60 victoyr.
Chequamegon was led by Copper Michalski with 26 points, followed by Jarrett Heckendorf with 14 and Antonio Poetzl with 14.
“We had a lot of positives to take away from the game such as playing tough on ball defense, creating steals, and knocking down big shots when needed. We fell a little short but I’m very proud of our effort. Our boys played very hard and are hungry to keep working and get better”, commented Chequamegon coach Thomas Tollakson after the game.
Chequamegon won the JV game by a slim 1-point, giving JV coach Michael Zielke his first win as a high school coach.
Chequamegon will host Washburn on Tuesday, December 3rd
