Civic Media returns WRJN to its roots with local voices and a full service format

RACINE, Wis. – Civic Media’s WRJN radio (1400 AM, 99.9 FM, and 98.1 FM) is changing to Full Service programming to better inform and entertain the Racine community. The station’s new lineup will feature Don Rosen in the morning, local, state, and agricultural news every hour, and will bring back timeless hits throughout the day.
WRJN has broadcasted from Radio Park on Victory Avenue since 1926. During the station’s 97 years, WRJN has been a trusted source of local news and community information. In the past, local news has been interspersed with adult music. The new on-air sound will bring back that approach featuring an “Oldies” lineup of hits from the late 50’s, 60’s and early ‘70s in between local, state and national news segments twice each hour during the day. WRJN also carries local High School sports in season and will continue to air Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks and Wisconsin Badger games in season. Between 5:00 and 6:00 a.m., farmers will hear The Midwest Farm Report with Pam Janke and her agriculture reports throughout the day.
“We are happy to bring back some of the music programming long-time WRJN listeners have missed, combined with more local voices and the same Racine and Kenosha news and information that the community relies on,” said Civic Media CEO Sage Weil.
The station will feature local on-air personalities who know and care deeply about Racine. Long time station host Don Rosen will expand his community oriented morning show to run from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Cindy Huber will be on the air from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and WRJN veteran Curt Vollman returns to the 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. shift, Monday through Friday. Between 5 and 6 a.m. farmers will continue to hear The Midwest Farm Report with Pam Janke, as well as her agriculture reports throughout the day.
Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wisconsin Broadcasters Hall of Fame member Terry Havel will offer his popular show, “Rock and Roll Never Forgets,” and local radio personality Rick Johnson will round out the Saturday line-up. Lou Rugani’s highly regarded “Music of The Stars” remains on Sunday morning from 7 a.m. to noon.
WRJN General Manager Chris Moreau added, “Our goal is to expand our coverage of all things Racine. WRJN has been part of the city’s DNA for nearly 100 years. Civic Media’s commitment to local radio and community service will be highly visible on WRJN. We will connect local Racine businesses with our engaged audience to help them grow through affordable and effective advertising programs as well.”

The Civic Media news/talk programs that WRJN has carried for the past year will continue to be heard in Southeastern Wisconsin on 540 AM WAUK and on the Civic Media app.
