The Ithaca/Weston softball team won a WIAA regional championship with an 8-6 win over Hillsboro on Thursday. The Bulldogs led 7-0 before the Tigers scored 3 runs in the 6th and 7th innings.
The leading hitters for Ithaca/Weston were Hailey McGlynn who was 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored, Kelsea Coleman was 3 for 3 with a walk and double, Autumn McBain hit a home run, Emma Hilby, and Brinley Wanless both had hits as the team improved to 18-4 overall. Jacey Maxwell was the winning pitcher as she worked 6 1/3 innings before giving way to Aspen Young who got the games final 2 outs.
Hillsboro was led at the plate by Michelle Hora who had 2 hits. Aubriyn Herritz hit a 2 run home run and suffered the pitching loss. The Tigers finished the season at 11-14.
Following the 8-6 win, Ithaca/Weston will host Royall on Tuesday night in the Sectional Semi-Final.
