An Army ROTC program at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh will be closing at the end of the 2025-2026 academic year or starting next summer.
The U.S. Army is making cuts to its ROTC units nationwide. The program will be eliminated at 10 universities including the UW-Oshkosh. About 40 students currently participate in the ROTC program, either on the Oshkosh campus or other schools tied to the university system.
Other ROTC programs affected in the area include the UW-Green Bay, St. Norbert College, Ripon College and Marian University.
Underclassman affected by the ROTC closure will need to transfer to continue as cadets. Those going for a military science minor can finish the program.
Marquette University, the UW-Madison, and other colleges which have ROTC programs won’t be impacted. Junior ROTC programs at the high school level won’t be impacted either.
