MADISON, Wis (CIVIC MEDIA) – Governor Evers stood present for the state capitol’s annual Pride flag raising ceremony Friday.

Gov. Evers allowed his emotions to show when speaking on the significance of the flag being raised.

They pretended trans and queer folks weren’t there at Stonewall in 1969… they told trans folks and veterans willing to fight and die for our freedom and theirs that their patriotism is not wanted and never mattered.

The proceedings come days after the LGBTQ+ Caucus introduced an equality bill to the state Senate.

State Republicans introduced a bill to the Assembly that would call for the tradition to cease, but it has not passed yet. The Pride flag has been flown in Madison every June since 2019.
