MADISON, Wis (WISCONSIN) – $9.8 million has been awarded to 10 Wisconsin charter schools that have demonstrated superb academic achievement and growth.
According to a Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) news release, the nearly $10 million sum of federal subgrants will be used to support the planning, opening, and expansion of the selected charter schools.
The announcement marks the second round of funding under the U.S. Department of Education grant; a third phase will open in the fall for the 2025-2026 school year. To be considered for funding, applicants must demonstrate the following:
- Strong academic achievement and growth
- Financial practices that are in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Measurable improvements in student academic outcomes, including graduation rates
