MADISON, Wis. (WMDX) – Early voting is now open for the spring election.
The city of Madison offers more than 40 locations where people can vote early. Madison Public Libraries are the most accessible, most of them offer early voting Monday through Saturday.
Voting early in-person means you bring your photo ID, and fill out an absentee ballot. The ballots are collected by clerk’s office staff every day.
You don’t have to be registered, either. They offer registration at early voting sites through Friday, March 28.
Often when voting early, there are no lines or very short ones. Early voting ends Sunday, March 30.

The Madison City Clerk’s Office is not under the leadership of Maribeth Witzel-Behl, who has served under three mayors. Investigations into the 193 ballots that went uncounted in the November election have led the mayor to place Witzel-Behl on paid administrative leave.
The city’s election operations are currently led by city attorney Michael Haas, a former administrator of the Wisconsin Elections Commission, and widely regarded as one of the state’s most experienced elections experts.
Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway had previously said her office would allocate extra staff to ensure the election runs smoothly.
