Packers, Bucks, Brewers make waves in Wisconsin

In the final weeks of the 2024 calendar year, the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks and Brewers made the headlines. Riverkings end year hot.

Bucks win NBA Cup
Winning its second title in five seasons, the Milwaukee Bucks won its NBA Cup in its second year of an in-season tournament.

The Bucks were undefeated in pool play and cruised through the cup bracket, culminating in a 97-81 over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Star, Giannis Antetokounmpo, was named the MVP of the in-season tournament as he ended the championship game with a triple-double with 26 points, 18 rebounds, and 10 assists.

Packers playoff bound

For the second year in a row, and fifth time in six years, the Green Bay Packers are going to the NFL playoffs.

Green Bay qualified for the postseason after the game on Monday, Dec. 23 against the New Orleans Saints, where they rolled to a 34-0 victory before 77,885 fans at Lambeau Field.

Brewers to stay in Wisconsin for decades

After an uncertain future over the past year or two, the Milwaukee Brewers will remain calling American Family Field home for the foreseeable future.

The Brewers have agreed with the city of Milwaukee to call the stadium, built in 2001, home until at least the 2050 season.

Riverkings end year hot

The winning streak moved to six games in a row as they dominated the Hudson Havoc over Saturday and Sunday, December 21 and 22 by scores of 8-2 and 5-0.

The Riverkings swept the regular season series over the Havoc with wins of 3-0 and 12-0 over October 26 and 27.

 Rapids next play on January 3 and 4 when they host the Steele County Blades at the South Wood County Recreation Center with puck drop at 7:00 p.m. both nights.
