LA CROSSE, Wis. (WLCX) – The race to be mayor of La Crosse is beginning to take shape after three announcements this fall.

What is known now is that incumbent mayor Mitch Reynolds is not planning on running again, so the city will have new leadership in 2025 and beyond.

Reynolds, who narrowly won election in 2021 by 205 votes over Vicki Markussen, said he wouldn’t seek a second term.

In 2021, 10 people ran for mayor in La Crosse.

So far for 2025, two candidates have declared their campaigns to run for the office. In October, Shaundel Washington-Spivey became the first candidate for mayor. Ellie McLoone announced her campaign on Nov. 18.

Candidates for office can begin circulating their paperwork and collecting signatures on Dec. 1. The Spring Primary will be held on Feb. 18, while the Spring Election is on April 1.

If you are considering a run for office, you can review everything you’ll need on the Wisconsin Elections Commission website. To see your voting ward and municipality, as well as voter registration status, polling location, and more election information, you can visit MyVote Wisconsin.
