Wisconsin is the No. 5 seed in the South Region of this year’s NCAA Men’s basketball tournament. The Badgers play 12th-seeded James Madison University in first round action on Friday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
This will be the first time in program history the Wisconsin Badgers and James Madison Dukes will meet. It’s also the first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 11 years for the Virginia school and the sixth overall at the Division I level.
The Badgers are making the team’s 27th trip, which continues a rare relationship with “The Big Dance.”
Wisconsin is one of only five schools to appear in at least 23 of the last 25 NCAA Tournaments. Duke is competing in its 24th of 25, while Gonzaga, Kansas, and Michigan State are all making a 25th trip.
Overall, the team’s record includes 10 Sweet-16 appearances and four Final-Fours.
There is one brag worthy NCAA championship, but you’ll have to dig back in the history books to find it. Wisconsin won it all for the first and only time in 1941. But since the tournament always includes twists and turns for the teams competing, you just never know where the Badgers may finish. It is March Madness, after all!
Tip-off is scheduled for 8:40 pm (CT). and you can follow the action on-air by listening to these local Civic Media radio stations:
