Owen Wayne Meskill,
age 8, passed away on Friday August 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Though his
life was far too short, Owen made an unforgettable impact on everyone who knew him. He was
born on May 25, 2018, to Stacy (Franz) and Brad Meskill.
Owen was wise beyond his years—honest, responsible, thoughtful, and incredibly intelligent. He
loved routine, structure, and following the rules. He had a serious demeanor but an
unexpectedly silly sense of humor that could catch you completely off guard.
Owen loved science, books, and learning, especially anything involving dinosaurs or animals.
His intelligence and critical thinking often amazed the adults around him. He was also a natural
leader. Every year he was in school, Owen accomplished being a Logger Leader, consistently
having the most Logger Logs, and he was even honored as Student of the Month.
Above all, Owen loved animals, especially dogs. The therapy dogs were his favorite part of the
hospital. After finishing treatment, the one thing he wanted most was a dog of his own. He got
his beloved Coco, who brought him endless comfort, love, and happiness. His dog Frankie was
also a cherished part of his life. Owen’s love for animals continued through sponsoring a kennel
at Catkins in his honor.
Owen will be remembered for his brilliant mind, serious expressions, unexpected humor, love of
science and books, and his enormous heart for animals. His time with us was much too short,
but the love he gave us will last forever.
He is survived by his loving parents, Brad and Stacy Meskill; his brother, Rolan; his beloved
dogs, Coco and Frankie; grandparents Greg (Jeanne) Meskill, Bonny Grube, Sue (Robert)
Klimowski, and Darrin (Suzy) Franz; great-grandmothers Dorothy Bubenic and Toni Klimowski;
Great-grandfather Harold Rudolph, and his aunts, uncles, and cousins, along with many
extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his beloved dog Bruno, grandfather Duane Grube, great-
grandparents, Louis Bubenic; Rita Rudolph; Art and Nelda Franz; Walter Klimowski, and Harold
and Elsie Meskill.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Friday August 14, 2026, at St. Therese of Lisieux
Catholic Church in Phillips. Father Gerald Hagen will officiate.
Burial at St. Patrick Cemetery in Phillips will follow.
A visitation will be held on Thursday August 13, 2026, from 3:00pm to 7:00pm and on Friday
August 14, from 9:00am until the hour of the service, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Owen’s memory can be made to the following organizations:
Catkins Animal Rescue, The Ronald McDonald House, or The Child Life Program.
Owen left his mark on our hearts—a mark that will never fade. He will be loved, remembered,
and missed for a lifetime.
