
Kelly James Scott, age 68, of Butternut, Wisconsin, passed away at his residence on July 11,
2026.
Kelly was born on August 18, 1957, in Park Falls, Wisconsin, to Norman and Thelma
(Croasdale) Scott. He graduated from Loyal High School and went on to attend Mid-State
Technical College. He married Linda Athey on December 21, 1990. Throughout his career, Kelly
worked in construction, where he earned a reputation as a hardworking, dependable, and skilled
craftsman. He took great pride in his work and in providing for his family.
An avid outdoorsman, Kelly found his greatest joy in spending time outside. Whether he was
hunting, fishing, working on the farm, collecting and tinkering with his tractors, or fixing
equipment, he was happiest with dirt on his boots and the people he loved nearby. He never
hesitated to lend a helping hand and was known for his generous heart, playful sense of humor,
and unwavering loyalty to family and friends.
Kelly was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge, where he attained the 32nd Degree. He
valued the fellowship, service, and lifelong friendships the organization provided.
Above all else, Kelly cherished his family. He especially treasured the time he spent with his
granddaughter, Sofia, who brought him immeasurable joy. His love, laughter, kindness, and
steadfast presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege
of knowing him.
Kelly is survived by his wife, Linda Scott; his daughter, Holly Speranza; his cherished
granddaughter, Sofia; his goddaughter, Lillian; numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces,
nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.
Kelly also leaves behind his faithful dog, Moriah, who was never far from his side. Their
unwavering companionship reflected Kelly’s lifelong love of dogs and the special place they held
in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Thelma Scott; his siblings, Phyllis Reas,
Michael Scott, Georgia Kramer, and Sharon Hilgart.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
