Matthew John Godlewski
age 44, of Park Falls, passed away on May 29, 2026, at Marshfield Medical Center in Weston
due to complications from diabetes.
Matthew was born on July 14, 1981, in Park Falls to John and Karen (Thoms) Godlewski. He
attended school in Park Falls and spent much of his life in the area he called home.
Matthew worked as a caregiver for his parents and was known by his family as a jack-of-all-
trades, master of none. Throughout his life, he worked in a variety of roles, including
employment at Birdseye Veneer Mill. Although he struggled with mental health for many years,
he had a strong desire to work with his hands and often spoke of becoming a carpenter. Family
and friends knew him as someone who was willing to help others and who deeply cared for
those closest to him. He enjoyed playing guitar, was a devoted Chicago Bears fan, and found
happiness in spending time with family. Matthew also loved being outdoors and appreciated the
simple pleasures of home.
Matthew is survived by two children, his sisters, Jessica (Wayne) Schuett and Jacqueline
Godlewski; his nieces; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his
parents, John and Karen Godlewski.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date, with Matthew being laid to rest
alongside his parents.
The family would like to thank all those who offered support and friendship to Matthew
throughout his life.
