Joan Helen Wells, 96, Park Falls

Joan Helen Wells, age 96, of Park Falls, passed away on April 9, 2026.

She was born on July 3, 1929, in Park Falls to Clifford and Lilah (Moxness) Wells. Joan spent her entire life in the Park Falls area, where she built a life rooted in hard work, independence, and friendship.

Joan was a graduate of Park Falls High School and went on to work as a clerk for the U.S. Forest Service. She was known for her strong work ethic and joyful personality.

Though she never married, Joan held a special place in the lives of her family as a devoted aunt. She enjoyed the simple and meaningful pleasures of life—fishing, hunting, golfing, bowling, and swimming. She also enjoyed occasional trips to the casino and traveling to Florida with her family and friends. Joan especially treasured time spent at her cabin on the Flowage, where her adventurous spirit felt most at home.

She is survived by her nieces and nephew: Susan (Howard) Spiering, Barbara (Dick-deceased) Fague, Karen (Terry) Lebach, Margaret “Peggy” (Jerry) Pedersen, Mary (Gary) Kalland, and Robert “Bob” (Amy) Wells, along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Clifford Wells.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday June 25, 2026, at Birch Street Funeral Service Chapel in Park Falls.

Interment at Nola Cemetery in Park Falls will follow.

A visitation will be held on Thursday June 25, 2026, from 10:00am until the hour of the service, at the funeral home.
