Lawrence “Larry” Edward Greenwood, age 75, of Butternut, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday October 7, 2025, at his home. He was born on December 25, 1949, in Elmhurst, IL, the son of John Greenwood and Charlotte Deardorff. He was a graduate of the Cable School in Cable, WI. After his schooling he returned to Illinois where he met and married Debra Jarvis on June 15, 1969. Larry worked as a Draftsman-Surveyor in Illinois until he moved to Butternut in 1979. Larry designed the steam plant for the Park Falls Paper Mill. Larry then worked as and was a well-known computer consultant. He enjoyed building and working on his home, and had a great love of nature, especially the trees and animals. Larry most enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Debra of Butternut, his (2)daughters: Tammy Greenwood-Palmer of Park Falls and Heather (Gordon) Wegner of Glidden, his (6)grandchildren: Justin Palmer, Brittany (Cody) Eichmann, Chloe (Troy) Wegner, Shelbe (Jordon) Damrow, Eayon (Samantha) Wegner, and Madisyn Wegner, (6)great-grandchildren: Kade, Brooks, Lilianna, Olivia, Reed, and Coe, his sister Donna Greenwood-Wirth, his two half sisters Bonnie and Linda Greenwood and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Susie and Marilyn Greenwood, and his half brother: William Greenwood.
A celebration of life will be held at Birch Street Funeral Service in Park Falls on Thursday October 16, 2025, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in the form of a plant to honor Larry’s love for nature.
