Our beloved Viola (nee Kohout) Boehm passed away on May 6, 2025 at the age of 94.
She was born on November 14, 1930 the daughter of Aldrich and Rose
Kohout. She graduated from Phillips High School in 1949 and then attended
school of cosmetology in Milwaukee, WI. While in Milwaukee she met Don
Boehm and was later married in Phillips, WI.
Vi touched many lives with her humor, talent of cooking, generosity, and relentless
love. She was well known in the community having worked at Morey’s Wreaths,
Phillips Plating and Phillips Plastics, Bonnie’s Diner, and Phillips Café. Vi was an
active member in the First Baptist Church, Women’s Auxiliary, Emery Cemetery
Committee and judging food entries for the Czech Fest and Price County Fair.
She was a “live wire” who claimed the honor of the first woman Powder Puff
Demo Derby winner. Even after losing a leg, she would make weekly trips
through the Federal Forest to visit her son and pick up treats in Minocqua for the
neighbors. And we will not talk about the time see fought off a bear with a broom.
She is survived by her children Kenneth of Phillips, WI; Jeffrey (Sue) of Harshaw,
WI and Rosann of Phillips, WI and by nine grandchildren; Derek, Melissa, David,
Theresa, Tara, Steven, Alise, Gabby and Alex and by eleven great grandchildren
Milana, Kayden, Reese, Kylee, Austin, Lukas, Halley, Logan, AJ, Allie and
Makeena.
Vi was preceded in death by her parents Aldrich and Rose, her husband Donald
and sister Ann Boehm.
Visitation for Viola will be held on Saturday, May 31 st from 10:00 am to 11:00 am
at the First Baptist Church, 426 Flambeau Ave, Phillips, WI with a Funeral Service
at 11:00 am and burial will follow at Emery Cemetery.
