Carl Kenneth Kubley, age 83, of Glidden, died at his home on Saturday April 19, 2025. He was born on
August 9, 1941, the son of Robert and Florence (Jordt) Kubley. He graduated from
Glidden High School in 1949 and married Jean Gilgen in Mellen on October 24, 1964.
The couple owned and operated Joy Villa Resort, which they purchased from Carl’s
parents, for 28 years. Carl served his country in the United States Army in Germany
from 1960 to 1963. Along with running the resort, Carl did some logging and held a
professional fishing guide license for over 60 years. He was an active member of Trinity
Lutheran Church holding many different offices and jobs. Carl held the office of Town of
Gordon Chairman and was a member of the Ashland County Board for many years. He
was an active member of the Glidden Lions Club, American Legion and VFW serving
many different offices.
He is survived by his wife Jean of Glidden, (3)children: John Richard (Shelly) Kubley of
Longmont, CO, JoAnn Marie Martikonis of Ashland, and Daniel Joseph (Emily) Kubley
of Chippewa Falls, (5)grandchildren: Michael Peterson, Marcus Peterson, Henry Robert
Kubley, Sam Kubley, and Alice Kubley, and many other relatives and friends. He was
preceded in death by his parents and his brother Captain Roy Robert Kubley. Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Glidden on Tuesday April 22,
2025 at 11:00am. Rev. Kenneth Lahners will officiate.
Interment will follow at Clam Lake Cemetery in Clam Lake with military honors under the
auspices of the Glidden American Legion and VFW. A visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 10:00am until the hour of the
service.
