It was with great sadness that we announce the death of Vernon Leon Moore, of Phillips, WI,
fondly known as Vern and Papa. He was surrounded by his family and friends in the comfort of
his home on November 25, 2024, at the age of 88. He was man of wisdom and strength who
cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. His absence leaves a void in our hearts.
Vern was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman and was devoted to his community where he
served on the County Board and Township of Worcester. Vern served his country proudly as a
Staff Sergeant Chemical Corps in the United States Army for 10.5 years. As a man of knowledge
who never settled, he completed a Master of Science and a PHD in Philosophy from Wake
Forest University. Vernon served his fellow veterans at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in
Milwaukee, WI, focusing on scientific research. He later worked as a pharmaceutical scientist at
Merck running a research laboratory. His passion for learning continued until the day he left us
and his beloved family will continue the legacy of knowledge.
He was a devoted husband, father, uncle, and a friend to so many. He is survived by his wife,
Susan (Putnam) Moore; his daughters, Lisa Moore (Fred) Daschofsky, Leslie (Frank)
Schwartzberg, Jamie Dyrkacz, Kimberly Mabie, and Lisa (AJ) Parker; and his son, David Dyrkacz.
He is further survived by his grandchildren, Zach, Abbey, Ainsley, Madison, McKenzie, Dominick,
Brandon, Taylor, Aaron, Jonathan, Christopher, Mya, Kinsley, Grayson and Macie.

To commemorate his remarkable life and the memories we cherish, a celebration of life service will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at the Phillips Armory located at 152 S. Eyder Avenue in Phillips, WI.  The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 1:00 PM until the time of services at 2:00 PM. A luncheon will follow. Donations are appreciated to Hope Hospice of Medford.  If you wish to send flowers, please contact Stems and Stuff at 715-820-2456.  We welcome all that knew him to join us in celebrating the life of a man who was loved deeply and will be in our hearts forever.  Generations Funeral Home & Crematory of Tomahawk is assisting the family.
