David Allen Lapp, age 77, of Tripoli, formerly of Fifield, unexpectedly passed away Wednesday March 26, 2025 at Rennes Health & Rehab Center in Rhinelander.
David was born May 12th, 1947, in Fifield to Richard and Olga (Skorka) Lapp. He was the third of eight children. Carole, Patricia (Jerry), Joni, Kathy (Dennis), Richard, Beverly (Greyling), and Tammy.
David served in the US Army from 1965-1968. Upon his return home from the service, he met the love of his life Abbey at Indian Point in the Willow. David married Abbey (Ninneman) October 14, 1972, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fifield. Onto this Marriage 3 children were born, Roxanne, David, and Dillon.
David was a true family man, there was not a thing he would not do for his family. He worked summers away with Abbey holding down the household during the week, with his return on Friday evenings. David instilled this amazing work ethic in both Roxanne and Dillon, in which he was so proud of their successes in life.
David loved riding his Harley with his brother, son, grandson, and nephew. He always got a kick out of getting a razz out of his daughter and granddaughter. We all waited for it whenever the family was together and in true David fashion he did not disappoint. David also looked forward to his yearly hunting and fishing camp with his son-in-law.
David was a proud member of the Operating Engineers Local 139, for whom he worked under most of his life, retiring in 2007. Recently in February he celebrated his 45 years as a member of the union.
David is survived by the love of his life Abbey of Tripoli, daughter Roxanne (Tom) Gadke, son Dillon (Kate) Lapp all of Eau Claire, grandchildren Kristopher Lapp (Alyssa) of Eau Claire, Ashley Gadke of Appleton, and great-granddaughter Ella Sophia of Eau Claire. As well as his siblings, in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
