Joel Karnick
Ronald Eugene Hagberg, at age 78, died unexpectedly of natural causes on 1/10/25, at his home in Loretta, WI. Born 9/30/46 in Omaha, NE, son of Eugene and Evelyn “Becky” Hagberg, he lived most of his life in Minneapolis and Anoka, MN until retiring to Loretta, WI in 2023. He was married to and survived by his wife Carol (Franta) and children Jacob Hagberg and Tierra Prescott and grandson Ayden Williams.
Ron was a graduate of Minnehaha Academy (’64) and earned an MA in education from the U of M. He was a seeker of knowledge, avid fisherman, sports enthusiast, musician, and writer.
Professionally, Ron taught at the HS and University levels as well as at In’ Fisherman Schools. He led singles ministries at Hennepin Ave United Methodist Church and was co-owner of a Visiting Angels franchise.
He is also survived by his brother Richard (Debbie) Hagberg, sister Susan (Bob) Engelhart, Mother-in-law Rosemary Franta, In-laws Diane (Tom) Reiter, Steve (Shari) Franta, Jane (Mike) Scully, Annette Franta, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was a thoughtful, kindhearted and loving husband, father, and friend. He will be forever in our hearts.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date and held in the Minneapolis area.
