The Butternut girls hosted South Shore on Tuesday in a match up of two teams trying to stay in the race with the top of the conference.
South Shore came out shooting early and built a double diget lead. The Midgets fought back the last few minutes before half to trail 20-14 at half. Too many turnovers by the Midgets and balanced scoring by the Cardinals allowed South Shore to pull away in the second half for the 55-31 win.
Six players hit a three for the Cardinals. Gianna Nahring and Caitlynn Bebeau each with 11 for the Midgets.
“We just got outplayed tonight, outhustled, and out coached. We are young, but we can’t keep using the same excuses. We have the talent to turn it around,”, said Butternut Coach Troy Scherwinski.
South Shore improves to (4-2, 7-4) while Butternut falls to (3-3, 4-5).
The Midgets now have a rough stretch to try and get back on track. They host Bowler on Thursday at 5:45, at Washburn on Friday at 6:30, at Prentice on Monday, at Bayfield on Tuesday.
