Dorothy “Slim” Lorraine McGuirk, age 89, of Fifield, died on Thursday January 2, 2025, at her home. She was born April 5, 1935, the daughter of Arnold and Margaret (Savaske) Zimmerman. Her early life and schooling were in Merrill. After High School she married James D. McGuirk on March 23, 1957, in Merrill. Together they had three daughters and traveled the country for James Navy career. Dorothy was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed a good time and a good laugh. She was the life of the party who couldn’t say no to an occasion cold beer, or two. Once her girls were grown, she spent some time making Christmas wreathes, but her true joy was helping raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed puzzle books, going to the casino, watching the Packers play, and spending time with family, friends, and especially her favorite grand-dog, Abby.
She is survived by her three daughters; Vicki Patterson, Patti (Bob) Skomaroske, Pam McGuirk, (6)grandchildren, (7)great-grandchildren, (3)siblings; Ralph (Judy) Zimmerman, Charles (Carla) Zimmerman, Susan Thomson, and by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She is further survived by her special fur grandbaby Abby Mae. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and (5)siblings; Phyllis Cole, Jack Zimmerman, Shirley Anderson, Margie Meyer, Barbara Everett.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Private interment will take place at Forest Home Cemetery in Fifield.
