Butternut girls hosted Mercer on Tuesday, looking to bounce back from a tough loss at Mellen on Friday.
The Midgets defense came to play and the offense did just enough as they led 21-8 at the half. Butternut built a commanding lead in the second half as they cruised to a 41-22 win.
Kendra Pritzl led all scorers with 14. Gianna Nahring had a big night with 13 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 steals. Caitlynn Bebeau added 8 points and 10 rebounds. Lizzie Pritzl chipped in with 4 points, 8 rebounds and some smothering defense on Mercer’s Jenny Klopatek. Irene Moreno led Mercer with 12.
Butternut improves to (3-1, 3-2) and travels to conference leader Solon Springs on Friday for a 6:30 start.
