Joan Carol Peterson, age 84, of Park Falls, died on Sunday December 15, 2024, at Park Manor Nursing Home. She was born on March 26, 1940, in Glidden, the daughter of Eldore and Caroline (Rominski) Kiefer. Her early life and schooling were in Glidden. On June 10, 1961, she married Dale R. Peterson in Glidden. The couple lived in Caledonia, where Joan worked for WTMJ Radio and then Air Logic until her retirement. After retirement the couple moved to Park Falls in 1994. Joan was a member of the Conference of Catholic Women, the Precious Blood Companions, the Red Hat Ladies, taught CCD in Butternut for many years and volunteered at the Thrift Shop. She enjoyed traveling, watching her grandchildren’s sporting events, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her son Jim (Nancy) Peterson of Hazelhurst, (2)grandchildren: Danielle (Danny Umland) Peterson and Nicholas (Sydney Wallace) Peterson, (3)sisters: Linda (Tom) Malczewski, Margo (Bill) Gross, and Mary (Barney) Kempf, (3)brothers: Ken (Lori) Kiefer, Jeff Kiefer, and Tom Kiefer, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale, her sisters Joyce Thorp and Lori Ann Kiefer, her sister-in-law Paulette Kiefer, and brother-in-law Willy Thorp.
Funeral services will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Park Falls on Friday December 20, 2024, at 2:00pm. Deacon Robert Schienebeck will officiate.
Burial will follow at Nola Cemetery in Park Falls.
A visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 1:00pm until the hour of the service.
