The Chequamegon Boys Basketball team gave Marathon all they could handle in a wild Marawood Conference boys basketball game Friday night.
“Last night’s Varsity Boys Basketball game was an amazing game that anyone, basketball fan or not, would have loved to be in attendance for”, said Chequamegon Coach Thomas Tollakson after the game.”
Chequamegon led 39-30 at halftime. True Thurs and Garrett Bracewell lead the 2nd half comeback for Marathon, each finishing with 17 points for the game, ending in a 66-63 Marathon victory.
“Our boys played so hard and gave our fans a great effort! I am incredibly proud of our boys and our fans should be too!”, said Coach Tollakson.
Chequamegon was led by Cooper Michalski with 26 points, followed by Jared Heckendorf with 15, Antonio Poetzl with 10 and Marcus Purdy with 9.
Chequamegon falls to 1-2 on the season, 0-1 in Marawood Conference play.
