James Roy Gavin
age 80, of Park Falls, died on Monday September 23, 2024 at Marshfield Medical Center in Park Falls. He was born on June 27, 1944 in Couderay, the son of John and Erma (Lueloff) Gavin. After his schooling James served his country in the United States Army. On November 12, 1966 he married Nancy Hilton in Phillips. James worked for the Flambeau Paper Mill for 30 years and, after his retirement from the Mill, worked as a logger. He was a member of the Park Falls American Legion Post, a volunteer driver for New Freedom Independent Living and Price County. He enjoyed playing Taps for the Legion Funeral Detail, watching the Packers & Badgers, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Nancy of Park Falls, (4)children: Jill Herbst of Wausau, Jan Gavin of Ellsworth, Amy Gavin of Phillips, and Cindy Gavin of Medford, (2)step-children: Kathleen Beaumont of Brantwood and Joe Zuraff of Rhinelander, (5)grandchildren: David & Laura, and Shannon, Dustin, & Ashley, (2)great-grandchildren: Cameron & Zoe, his sister Betty Scott of Stone Lake, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and (2)brothers: John & Ralph Gavin.
A graveside service will be held at Nola Cemetery in Park Falls on Wednesday October 9, 2024, at 11:00am. Deacon Chet Ball will officiate with Military Honors under the auspices of the Park Falls American Legion Post.
