John Dale Severt, age 88, of Fifield, died peacefully at home on Friday September 20, 2024, with his family by his side.

He was born March 17, 1936, the son of Norman and Irene (Blum) Severt.  He graduated from Fifield School in 1955.  After graduation he joined the U.S. Air force.  John was stationed in Georgia, Philippines, and Formosa (Taiwan) with skills in carpentry.  Once his Military service was achieved in 1959 he returned back home to Fifield.  John dated and married Caroline Suzanne Blastic on June 8, 1963. He worked for the Forest Service in the Chequamegon National Forest planting trees and manning the fire look-out towers.  John worked and retired from the Flambeau Paper Mill.  He enjoyed model railroading, coin collecting, and woodworking.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Carol, their children; Anne Ingram, Johnny (Victor), Michael (Elizabeth), Christopher (Jolene), Teresa, Andrew (Jamie).  Grandchildren; Jessica (Jonathan), Meagan, Kristine, Logan, Morgan, Taylor, Brenna, Zachary, Maddie, Payten. Great-Grandchildren; Jaxon, Samual, Benjamin and William. His brothers; Douglas (Joyce) and Russell (Jackie) Severt, brother-in-law Dennis Moe, and by many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson Dustin Luckett, Stepmother Verona Cole-Severt, his sisters, Joan and Judy, and Susan Moe.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Friday October 4, 2024 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fifield. Fr. Shaji Pazhukkathara will officiate.

Interment at Forest Home Cemetery in Fifield will follow with military honors under the auspices of the Fifield American Legion Post.

A visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm with a prayer service at 7:00pm on Thursday October 3, 2024 at Birch Street Funeral Service Chapel in Park Falls.  A visitation will also be held from 10:00am till the hour of the service at the church on Friday October 4, 2024. 

Birch Street Funeral Service is assisting the family.
