Frances Lily (nee Pospisil) Marlenga peacefully ended one journey and began another on September 6, 2024. She was 95.

Fran will be fondly remembered by her daughter Janice (nee Marlenga) Finke, granddaughters Holly (nee Holcomb) Markowski, Tyler (Steve) Schmidt, and Morgan Finke, and great-grandchildren Cameron and Madison Holcomb and Carter and Conner Schmidt.

She was welcomed into heaven by her loving husband Joseph Marlenga, cherished siblings Marie Wasinack, John Pospisil, Theresa Foley, Ann Warga, Elsie Kalivoda, Laddie Pospisil, and her treasured twin brother, Frank Pospisil. In heaven, she is joined also by her beloved daughter Kandace Hewitt and devoted son-in-law Timothy Finke.

Fran was a fighter for all that she believed in. She was a dedicated member of St. Roman Parish, the Wisconsin Slovak Society, and the Red Hat Society. She served as a Past President for the Western Fraternal Lodge, District 48, the World War II 96th Infantry Division Women’s Auxiliary, and the United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 57, Milwaukee Metropolitan Area, including 20 years of service as the secretary of the UAW Fair Practices Council.

She had a sense of adventure about her, loved to travel, and often regaled others with memorable songs and valued stories. One of her favorite stories to share is how she shared a birth date not only with her twin brother, but also with her brother Jerry and husband Joe. Her family finds peace and joy in knowing that her heavenly birth date is all her own. She will be missed, but she will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fran’s name to the 96th Infantry Division Association Heritage Fund.

There will be a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home, 284 Chestnut Street, Phillips, WI, 54555. Visitation will start at 10 a.m. and continue until the start of service. Interment to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home is assisting the family.
