Jack Kalander, 84, of Prentice passed away unexpectedly on August 11, 2024, at UW Health Hospital in Madison, WI. He was the son of Gust and Maragaret (Tesch) Kalander, and was born on March 23, 1940, in Ogema, WI. After attending Prentice High School, Jack went to Milwaukee to work for James Cape and Sons Construction.

Jack married Dian Haubert in Prentice on May 2, 1964. They moved back to Prentice in December of 1964. In the summer of 1965, Jack started working for Prentice Hydraulics. He remained with the company when it changed over to Omark/Blount until his retirement in September of 1999.

Jack loved his family and one of his joys in life was spending time with his grandchildren at his pond. He took pride in caring for his hunting land and pond, while keeping himself busy with a never-ending stream of repair projects. He attended the First Baptist Church in Prentice. He enjoyed fixing bikes, anything his grandchildren broke, and listening to the Gaither Gospel Group.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Dian; children, Audrey (Kalander) Bant, Jack Jr. (Necole), James; grandchildren, Zechariah, Ezekiel, Hezekiah, Cade, Mason, Cole, Miranda, Sheridan, and Kiah; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sharon (Bruce) Jilka, Betty Carlson, and Helen Best; many nieces, nephews, and close friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gust Jr. (Sonny), Clarence, Walter (Bud); sisters, Maragret (Cheech), Joann, and Dorothy.

There will be a Memorial Service at 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 24th, 2024, at the First Baptist Church, 757 Cherry Street, Prentice, WI 54556. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until the start of service. Burial will take place at a later date. Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home is assisting the family.
