Elsie Rose Kozey, 96, former Phillips resident (recently residing in Muskego, WI), passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024. She was born in Phillips to Laddy and Rose (Tom) Kohout on February 19, 1928. Elsie attended East Highland Grade School and graduated from Phillips High School.

On June 7, 1947, she married Paul Kozey at St. John Lutheran Church. Elsie and her husband, Paul, operated a dairy farm in the Town of Worcester. In addition to being a hard-working farm wife, she was a great mom to six children. She also worked outside the home, fleshing mink at the Baumgartner Mink Ranch, waitressing at Crystal Café and was Assistant Manager at the Montgomery Ward Catalog Agency. She was a great baker and liked to share he kolaches and tea ring with everyone, especially at Christmas. 

Elsie is survived by five children, Donna (Cliff) Gence, Muskego; Gerald (Connie), Minocqua. Janette (Ron) DeLeasky, Phillips; Bonita (Ken) Vergis, Muskego; Traci Tregler, Pewaukee. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and daughter-in-law Terrie Kozey and her children. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, her son Paul Jr. and her grandson Jacob Kozey.

Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements and a private burial.

Burial will be in Lakeside II Cemetery.
