Ronald “Ron” A. Heizler, 90, Phillips, WI, passed away on May 13, 2024, at Rib Lake Nursing Home. He was born on July 18, 1933, to Joseph and Laura (Zacharias) Heizler in Chicago, IL. 

He grew up in Phillips, WI, and went to Phillips High School. At 17, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country in the Korean War for 4 years. He returned to Phillips where he met the love of his life, Marion “Mickey” Benda, and they married June 12, 1954. They were married 51 years when she passed away in 2005. 

Ron worked in Ladysmith as a meat cutter and then meat market manager for National Food Store for 13 years before returning to Phillips in 1973, where they bought and ran “Heizler’s Bar” for a couple of years. Ron then started at Georgia Pacific and retired in 1995. After retirement, Ron spent his time hunting and fishing. 

Ron is survived by 5 children, Joyce (Bill) Rait and Jim (Connie) Heizler of Phillips, WI, Shirley (Jim) Smith of Sparta, WI, Louie (Amy) Heizler and George (Julie) Heizler of Park Falls, WI. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Shannon (Tom) Radlinger, Jennifer (Joe) Sorge, Rob (Dana) Balsavich, Justin (Chelsey) Heizler, Wade Heizler, Joey Heizler, and Cooper Heizler; 8 great-grandchildren, Sierra Barnes, Lainie and Dawson Heizler, Paisley and Preston Balsavich, Amelia Sorge, Leelan and Kaylin Heizler, and Emerson Eitrem; sister, Jeanne (Randy) Anderson; brother, Joe (Rozanne) Heizler, both of Phillips; sisters-in-law, Susan Heizler of Park Falls, and Sheryl Ewing Benda of Wisconsin Rapids, WI. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Elk Lake Park, 585 County Hwy H, Phillips, WI 54555. Heindl-Nismgern Funeral Home is assisting the family.
