The Butternut Mercer Pioneer softball squad wrapped up their regular season last night hosting the Mellen Granite Diggers.

Great pitching and defense by both teams in a very energetic contest throughout the game.  Mellen with a 5-1 advantage through 6 complete and then bust the game open in the top of the 7th with 8 runs. “We just ran out of gas at the end, but I am very proud of the effort from our girls tonight.” Coach Glenn Wegner.  Final score 13-1 Mellen victorious and clinches the Northern Lights Conference title.

Jersey Polencheck on the mound for Butternut Mercer, goes the distance with 9 strikeouts on the night giving her 200 in her career.  “Couldn’t be prouder of Jersey, she was definitely pumped up for the game tonight and pitched fantastic in front of a nice large crowd in her final home game.  We also honored fellow seniors Erica Kuhn and Kaycie Scherwinski on Senior night in Butternut and thank them for all they have given to our program over the years.”
