In loving memory of Larry D. Bay, a cherished pillar of the Glidden community, who peacefully passed away, with family by his side on Monday, May 13, 2024, at Park Manor Nursing Home at the age of 76. Larry was born on September 12, 1947, to the proud parents Louie and Jessie Bay.
Raised in the heart of Glidden, Larry’s passion for education led him to earn his bachelor’s degree in education. For 23 years, he imparted knowledge and wisdom as a dedicated educator at DC Everest Middle School. In 1991, Larry embraced his faith by joining the Catholic Brotherhood and became an esteemed member of the Knights of Columbus.
Returning to his roots in 1998, Larry became an integral part of the Glidden Historical Society, where his passion for preserving the past shone brightly. He meticulously crafted invaluable historical records, including the Shanagolden History Book, Bay Family History Book, and Most Precious Blood Church History Booklets. His commitment to his community extended beyond words, as he generously assisted countless individuals with his expertise in printing, photography, and multimedia creation.
Larry’s love for history was rivaled only by his love for his family. He found joy in nurturing his garden and cherishing moments with his loved ones.
Larry leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication, survived by his three sisters: Merilyn Bay, Norma Jean (Gary) Jones, Janice (Rusty) Drott, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Donald Bay, and niece Tiffany Bay.
