Joel Karnick
Geneva “Jean” Kilger, age 99, of Butternut, died on Tuesday March 26, 2024, at her home. She was born on October 7, 1924, in Ashland, the daughter of Frank and Mary Warshall. Jean was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps during World War II. In 1948 she married Paul Kilger. She worked for St. Croix, Park Place Nursing Home and was very active in her community serving with many organizations. She was a member of the Butternut American Legion and enjoyed picking mushrooms, gardening, embroidery, bird watching, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her (4)children: Darrel “Dace” (Sandra) Wages of Butternut, Frank Kilger of Butternut, Alexandra (Don) Hoeft of Raddison, and Sidney Kilger of Butternut, (4)grandchildren: Darrel Jr. (Margaret), Daniel, and David, (4)great-grandchildren: Nick (Dee), Alie (Patrick), Sophia, Chance, (7)great-great-grandchildren, her brother Phillip (Adreane) Warshall, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul, her infant son George, (4) sisters: Ann Strack, Dorothy Barton, Rose Holt, and Catherine Dodson, and (2) brothers: Alexander & George Warshall.
A memorial service will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Butternut on Saturday April 6, 2024, at 11:30am. Fr. Shaji Pazhukkathara will officiate.
Interment will follow at St. Cecelia Catholic Cemetery in Butternut with military honors under the auspices of the Butternut American Legion.
A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday April 6, 2024, from 10:30am until the hour of the service.
