Alwin “Sonny” Robert Grassel
age 81, of Fifield, died on Thursday December 8, 2016 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. He was born on May 13, 1935 in Fifield, the son of John and Barbara (Hilgart) Grassel. His early life and schooling were in Fifield. Sonny was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. On August 29, 1964 he married Beverly “Suzie” Buntrock in Fifield. Sonny worked as a laborer for the Town of Fifield and then owned and operated Grassel’s Gravel. He enjoyed playing cribbage at McDonalds and puttering with engines.
He is survived by:
his brother John (Marge) Grassel of Park Falls
his sister Ann “Terri” Ostrander of Park Falls
his very special friends: Christopher “Hoppe” & Bonnie Hilgart and their children William and Ashley Hilgart.
and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: John Grassel and Barbara Grassel-Beaudoin, his step-father Mike Beaudoin, his wife Beverly “Suzie” Grassel, and his sister Louise “Sis” Grassel.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
