Allan Neale Bay, age 82, passed away peacefully at Park Manor Nursing Home in Park Falls on Monday, January 8th, 2018 with his wife, Lois, daughter, Jane; and granddaughter, Rebecca at his side.
Allan was born in Shanagolden in Ashland County on February 22nd, 1935 to Robert and Olga (Iverson) Bay, the youngest of 3 children. He had 2 older brothers, Robert (Katherine) Bay and Ralph (Lois) Bay.
He grew up in Glidden and attended school there, graduating with the class of 1952. He worked at Milwaukee several years before returning to Glidden, going into the logging business for over 60 years until his retirement in 2013. He was one of the first to have mechanized logging equipment in Wisconsin. On November 13th, 1954, Allan married Lois Wiener at Holy Rosary Church at Mellen, WI. They celebrated their 63rd anniversary on November 13th, 2017.
Three children were born to them. Two sons, Jeffrey Allan and Gregory Allan and one daughter, Jane Marie.
Allan was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. An honest, hardworking man. He was a member of the Most Precious Blood Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was a volunteer fireman, an Ashland County Deputy Sheriff, and served on the Jacobs Town Board.
Surviving him are his wife, Lois; daughter, Jane Bay of Minocqua; granddaughter, ReBecca Jane (Seth Carlson); great-granddaughter, Stella Jane; and great-grandson, Jack Allan; all of Park Falls. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Allan were his beloved sons; Jeffrey Allan, 18 years old in 1974; and Gregory Allan, 26 years old in 1984. His father, Robert Bay; mother Olga, stepfather Elde Reischel; and his brothers, Ralph and Robert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 13th, 2018 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in Glidden at 11am with Father Simon Reddy Boyapati and Father Dean Buttrick officiating. A visitation will be held at the church at 10am until the hour of service. Spring burial will take place in Most Precious Blood Cemetery.
